Designing a Modern Architectural Fountain: Nozzles, Pumps and Light

Choosing the Right Nozzles
Nozzles define the visual language of the fountain, so specification should begin with the desired effect rather than the catalogue. A few workhorses cover most Gulf projects:

Friction losses through pipework, valves and fittings can quietly consume a third of available head, so generous pipe diameters and smooth bends are money well spent.

High evaporation, hard water and fine desert dust make maintenance a design input, not an afterthought. Wind-blown debris calls for accessible strainers and skimming. Treat the water — typically with bromine or a UV-assisted regime — to prevent algae in the heat, and ensure every pump, valve and light is serviceable without draining the entire basin.
